This special episode is a conversation with San Francisco electronica artist Divasonic. We talk about her own music and about the new music compilation that she’s just released with musician Celeste Lear: “Digital Bliss, Volume 2.” Following on the success of the first edition of Digital Bliss, it features 14 tracks from women electronica artists (or women-fronted musical ensembles), including Costanza, Micropixie, Return to Mono, Alice Rose, Artemis, and Rena Jones, among others.

On October 2nd, Digital Bliss will have an official launch party in San Francisco. Come join the party, and if you can’t, then take a listen to the CD on CDBaby, Amazon, or iTunes.

The tracklist from this 30-minute episode:

1. DIVASONIC – Calm of the One (from “Birth,” buy from CDBaby, Amazon, iTunes)

2. CELESTE LEAR – Continental Drift (from “Digital Bliss, Volume 2,” buy from CDBaby, Amazon, iTunes)

3. WEATHER PENDING – Perfect Weather [Divasonic Remix] (from “Digital Bliss, Volume 2,” buy from CDBaby, Amazon, iTunes)

4. PIXELFROG – Mystic Dunes (from “Digital Bliss, Volume 2,” buy from CDBaby, Amazon, iTunes)

If you enjoy Divasonic’s music, here’s a YouTube video of “Hiding,” from her album “Birth:”

It’s about time I showcase some of the great downtempo, trip-hop, and psyambient artists in my own neighborhood, San Francisco.

Many thanks to the San Francisco artists and scenemakers who contributed to this episode: the amazing talented ledenhed, the brilliant Sound Capsule (DF Tram and DJ Xan-X of ambi-sonic fame), PolyGroovers (who are also featured in a new compilation from Epiphyte Records, “Test Press SF 2007″), The Warheads, the mysterious DJ Delivery, the supercharged grooves of Alloy Trex (who should have an album, but don’t!), the generous General Fuzz, the eurochilled sounds of Fuzzpod, the understated, elegantly trip-hopping Under, Karmacoda (apologies for playing the same track as in episode 8, but it’s still great, isn’t it?), and the fabulous Artemis.
