Karmacoda came onto the scene in San Francisco as an arty, experimental trip hop band back in 2002. Today, they’re a sophisticated group of musicians who make great electronic AND acoustic music. From their live performances to their cool YouTube videos to their growing list of high-caliber releases, Karmacoda is the band you want to hear, and the band you want to know.
In this special episode, Heather and B from Karmacoda chilled out with me in their studio for a fun, in-depth interview on their music, their techniques, and their inspirations. You’ll hear samples from a number of their tracks and you’ll finish this interview wanting to hear them play live. Let’s hope you get that opportunity this year!
Many thanks to B and Heather for sharing this with us!

Shine’s third album “Judas and Mary” releases 8 March
The French trip-hop band Shine released their first album in 2008 and received much critical acclaim. In their second release “Shine Featuring Terry Reid,” they were joined by the legendary and iconoclastic British rocker, Terry Reid.
In 2012, they’re releasing their third album, “Judas and Mary,” which delivers even more of the melodic trip-hop goodness that made them popular worldwide, from touring with acts like Morcheeba to inclusion in the TV show “Ugly Betty.”
I had an opportunity to talk to them in Paris about their career thus far. In this interview, we discuss their beginnings and their work with Terry Reid, and give us a sneak preview of “Judas and Mary.”
“Judas and Mary” releases on March 8, 2012 on iTunes, Amazon, and Bandcamp.
